Today as I was reflecting on the Legacy Building and the stage we have reached so far, I remembered the story of another project that needed to be done many years ago. No, it was not the Ekosodin House.
Nehemiah had received distressing news about the walls of Jerusalem and the sorry state of the remnant Jews that lived there. Inspired by the spirit of God and with favour resting on him, he set out to repair the walls. It was a huge and massive undertaking with many challenges.
When we get to Chapter 3 of the account of the building several names begin to pop up and the part they played in building the wall. A detailed account is given and in some cases, additional qualifiers are used.

I see this CUNAA Legacy-Building as not too dissimilar to the building of the walls of Jerusalem.
- In verse 5, we see a certain set of people, nobles who would not stake their neck to the LORD’S work.
- Verse 12 tells us of a man who perhaps had only daughters but that didn’t seem to stop him from doing his bit! Baruch and his daughters joined in building their share.
- Then we saw another man who earnestly built a section of the wall. Why was he ernest? What did he do differently from the others that merited that qualifier?
- And the people of Tekoa did not seem to be daunted by the lack of support from their nobles. They built another section of the wall.
Perhaps all these people, while they were doing their bit, may have known that a record was being taken of their contributions perhaps for accounting purposes or whatever. What they would never have known was that their contribution was being recorded for all eternity as a witness and a testimony to generations who would come after them. They may not have got their well done in their generation, I suppose that our drawing inspiration from their work and labour is sufficient well done. God never forgets.
I also imagine that as they wait patiently for the redemption of all things they too would be urging us to get on with this project. Not to give excuses, but to stake our necks and put our shoulders to work. To work earnestly and zealously for the first project of its kind in the history of our nation. A building not affiliated to church denomination to names, to a tribe or political party. Simply a building FOR THE LORD, TO BLESS THE PEOPLE OF GOD, NO STRINGS ATTACHED.
Are you not excited to be part of this new move of Collaboration that God is starting with Us?
This is our test. Let’s get it done.
Shalom.
